Ingredients
8 slices toasted breadcrumbs
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon clove
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese, Grated
1 1/2 cups raisins
2 tablespoons butter
whipped cream (optional)
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Toast the sliced bread and break into two inch pieces.
Mix water with sugar, salt and spices until a syrup.
Bring to a boil in a saucepan and simmer 10 minutes.
Grease an oblong baking dish and layer the bread in to
bottom, alternating with cheese, raisins, and butter.
Pour the syrup over bread mixture
and cook 20 minutes until bread mixture absorbs syrup.
May be served warm and topped with whipped creams.
